Who doesn't love Charleston? The food, the beach, rainbow row....
...as a result 15,000+ people are moving to Charleston every year; most looking for some sort of change. Change of lifestyle, change in work life-balance or just the better weather. But very few people stay much longer than three years. We believe that's because as beautiful as our city is, the change we're looking for can only ever be fully found in a life changing relationship with Jesus.
We believe God wants to move afresh in Charleston. From the beach walks with our dogs, to the evenings in downtown, the years we spend at college to seasons of rest in retirement, God is moving afresh in people in the Holy City.
Courageous will be a life-giving church that will help the people of this amazing city discover what they came here to find. We want to build an authentic community that chase after all that God promises us in His word and radically love the community around us while we do that. Courageous will be a church of passion and purpose and we'd love you to be involved.
THE NAME
Courage is not about being fearless. Instead it's about what we do in the face of our fears. Throughout the bible we read stories of ordinary people, encountering an extraordinary God and as a result marking history with their faith. We believe those everyday heroes fill the streets of Charleston. From the 6th graders starting middle school, to medics at MUSC, students at College of Charleston, Citadel or CSU and the families navigating tough times....
Courageous will be a church where those same people can find strength within their weaknesses, a community that will roll with them through it all and a God who can make the most timid of us bold.
